REVIEW: Insurgent by Veronica Roth (Divergent 2)

#FirstWorldProblems : Having to wait more or less a year for the last book to come out. Oh, how will I cope with everything?!?

If you haven't read Insurgent yet, don't read this. You will be spoiled.

Last chance to turn back.

THERE WILL BE TONS OF SPOILERS.

Okay, your choice.

So, I don't know how I can write a review regarding all the AWESOME. Okay, I'm going to start with why I rated this five stars. Well, mainly because I can't rate it 279731647901794 stars. Yes, it is, in fact, THAT awesome. The way the story twists and surprises you, that is legen wait for it DARY!!!! I do notice the obvious change in the main protagonist Tris' behavior, as she became more paranoid and erratic, but I think it was steered to the author's advantage. The main conflicts, the sub-conflicts, the conflicts Tris have with Tobias, the conflict Tris has with herself, all contributes to a perfect novel. The way bravery is confused with idiocy isn't annoying, it's understandably necessary for the author to create a character with it's own weaknesses and vulnerabilities. The way Tris and Tobias' relationship goes through ups and downs isn't flawless, but hey, this isn't a utopian novel where everything was supposed to be molded to be perf, right?

Now, I can see that many people compares Divergent to Insurgent. While both books are amazing, they are just amazing in different ways. Divergent had a different feel to it, focusing on Tris' divergency. But in Insurgent, many new conflicts presented itself, and you can see that Tris' (and a whole bunch of other's ) divergency is just a part of the bigger picture. That bigger picture is what left me hanging at the end of the book. What makes me thrive for the third book. What the hell does that ending mean?!!? I mean, I know it means that there is a world- there is our future world- outside the fence. But what, how, when, who, all questions still remain unanswered, until the third book will be released and I have to fight to buy it earlier than anyone else in my country. Yes, I spoiled you. The book three would probably revolve around the outside world. The world beyond the fence.

And I. Can't. Wait.

2013.

A year.

Why?

Why?

WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHY

Yes, this was a great book, like I love it so much that I growled at people trying to touch my copy. Yes. You should read it. If you don't, I'm judging you.

INTERVIEW with LISSA PRICE and a Not-so-short story of how I won Starters

As promised, here is the interview with the legendary LISSA PRICE, the writer of STARTERS, a new Young Adult writer who debuted last March 2012. Woohoo! :)

1. When and why did you decide to become a writer, specifically a Young Adult novel writer?
I think I've always been a writer, I wrote ever since I was a kid. A few years ago I decided I wanted to write YA novels. I was inspired by books that I liked, including the UGLIES series by Westerfeld, THE HUNGER GAMES, and many more.

2. In what ways do you think you and Callie are similar?
We're both survivors. We keep our eye on the prize. And we'd do anything to protect the ones we love.

3. If the Spore wars actually happened, and you have a choice to either be a Starter or an Ender to live, would you choose being a helpless, naive yet strong Starter orphan, or the frail, old yet rich with money and wisdom Ender? Why?
You know that's not a great choice!  Books are about conflict and so that's what I have in there, contrast and conflict. I guess the gut reaction is Starter because there's more of a future for them and I'm an optimist.

4. What do you think about the various features made especially for the book, like the FB application? :)
I think they're terrific. I feel very fortunate to have a publisher who has been so inspired by the book to create a game for it. And the visuals of the game world are so much fun, they take you into the Starter's world. I love that the game is free to anyone who goes to the StartersBooks FB page or www.StartersBooks.com. I'm also thrilled with the trailer, which you can see there or on youtube or on my site www.LissaPrice.com.

Yes, I know that the interview is quite short, but that's only because Lissa is working on a super top secret mission... Writing the last book to the series, ENDERS. She can't release anything, but I'm sure it will be an amazing addition to the Starters series. So excited! Enders is expected to come out Winter 2012, I think. It will be a blast! Another thing to add on your Christmas wishlist! :)

I'll probs make a post  about how I win books, and how many I've won. I'll add there some pictures for your use. :) So um expect fangirling because when I won those books I bounded up and down the stairs in disbelief. So um yep, see you next post hehehehe :)

And... again.

Okay. I have never been a successful blogger on Blogspot. There were many attempts. And equally many failures :(
This will be my last attempt. If I still fail, then Blogspot just isn't right for me. So yep. Let me remind all my 6 followers what I will be doing. I will be running a book blog. A blog for books. A home for the rants and endeavors while reading, an abode for my craziness over literature, a.. I think you get it.

So, what will I TRY to do this week is:

  • Post Lissa Price's interview (If you don't know Lissa Price, she's the author of Starters, a Young adult apocalypsie, also one of my favorite books)
  • Post a review. It may be more than one, since I've read tons of books this May. Expect The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent to be... crazy. :)
  • Book challenges. I will take part in some book challenges I deem to be safe heh c:
  • Get 10 followers? If I can get 4000 followers in my tumblr then I'm sure it's no biggie to get 10 followers here, right? Right? No? Okay.
  • Make posts with GIFs. Bloggers  love GIFs.
So yep, I'd be doing lots of crazy things if I actually succeed in this blogging thing, I might give away some swag, a book, I might make a question and answer video, I don't know. So um, stick around, I guess? I have to go theme hunting. My blog's theme is.... eck.

LOL (Lots of Love),
Mariel
